Weekend Review GW18

Although we still have Monday night football to look forward to, this already looks like another sub par week for my team, with captain Kane failing to deliver. My pick of the week Dele Alli scored but the Coutinho injury news made me hold fire on my planned double swoop meaning I missed out on Alli’s points.

My Team

Butland
Dawson, Nyom, Van Dijk
Mahrez, Mane, Cabaye, De Bruyne
Lukaku (C), Kane , Vardy

Week points (so far): 51
Overall points: 918
Overall rank: 493
Transfers remaining: 23/40
Money in the bank: 0.5mil

The only good news here is that I went another week without spending a transfer, which will hopefully pay off later down the line. I’m also hopeful of a small rank rise tonight once captain Lukaku and Cabaye have played.

Weekend notes

Mahrez hat trick was the stand out performance of the weekend, an in form Liverpool came up short against a rejuvenated looking Newcastle and a stuttering Chelsea team again failed to deliver.

The Liverpool team in particular is a bit of a conundrum, despite the loss at Newcastle they have the form and fixtures to deliver some points but picking an asset appears to be a bit of a lottery. The only ones that I will consider are Coutinho and possibly Sturridge if they can get guaranteed game time.

Chelsea look one to avoid for now, I thought they were beginning to get some form back and expected them to win comfortably against Bournemouth, but Hazard and co again came up short. They are going to need to show me more before I invest.

New SFFF League!

I have set up a new Sky Fantasy Football Forum league. It’s free to enter, so just a bit of fun to see how you compare to the rest of the (growing!) SFFF community.

You can enter the League via this link: https://fantasyfootball.skysports.com/leagues/view/8181399

Blog updates

I have reset the captain poll – this week looks like an interesting one with a quite a few possible options. There will also be some articles and polls lined up for the week with a new Sky Watchlist page planned, so be sure to check back in over the next few days!

How did your week go?

    My team:

    Schmeichel
    Nyom, Cathcart, Dawson
    Mahrez, Eriksen, KDB, Bolasie
    Kane (c), Aguero, Lukaku

    Week pts: 50
    Overall pts: 773
    Rank 25,030

51 points with two to play isnt too bad, Will. I had a relatively similar week, except I used a transfer to bring in Kane for the injured Sanchez. Though Kane blanked I ended up pretty pleased with this move considering I was seconds away from bringing in Hazard! I also carried an injured Aguero as transferring him out really wasn’t necessary given he’ll be returning next week.

Long term, I would really like to bring Ozil or Coutinho into my team (ideally for Eriksen) but I’m currently 0.1m short. I’ll have to give this a think-over.

I have Lukaku and Bolasie to come, and I’ll wait to see the teams before deciding who to captain. If Bolasie is up front again I may gamble on him, but otherwise it’ll be Lukaku I go for.

Hope you opted for Lukaku? Should give us a bit of a rank boost!

Ozil & Coutinho are great options, if you can’t afford them I would consider Ramsey, great differential and is a goal mine for Sky bonus points!

In the end I did go for Lukaku, so that’s a nice added bonus! I think Ramsey is a good option too, so I’ll likely plump for him after Spurs play Newcastle this weekend.

I think Aguero is going to miss the Swansea game. He’s definitely out for the midweek match.

Thanks Tim, Are you referring to the Watchlist article? If he makes the final cut it will be with a note on his injury status.

I was referring to Niall1murphy’s post above but forgot to do it as a reply.

I got 35 points with one team, so awful. But I did have Lukaku captain tonight.

I got 82 points with my second team.

I’m not planning on changing anything this weekend though. I really want to hold onto transfers now.

Hi Tim, gutted about the Aguero news as it seemed he was almost guaranteed to come back mid-week following Pellegrini’s conferences last week.

I have no idea who I’ll replace him with this week should I need to. Obviously I’d like Ramsey but that’s hardly a like-for-like trade…

          Ah that makes sense now.

Wow big difference between your two sides – I have always played with just one, can’t handle the multiple decisions!
