Another decent week saw my team continue to edge up the rankings with a heathy 89. Despite missing a penalty, Aguero came good as captain and there was a good sprinkling of points across the squad with Mahrez and Payet continuing to produce.
Transfers left: 10/40
Money in the bank: 0.7
Despite just 1 clean sheet at the back, all my defenders delivered with Alderweireld and Van Dijk chipping in with a goal a piece.
Missed Siggurdsson opportunity
The only negative was that I decided to hold fire on the planned Fabregas > Siggurdsson move, missing out on his 12 point haul. With a blank for Fabregas up next, I am now left with a decision – admit I got it wrong and go ahead with the move or hold the transfer hoping it will be more beneficial down the line. I’ll likely off load either in gameweek 35, meaning I will only have them for the next 3.
Despite 2 away games, Siggurdsson’s fixtures (bou, AVL, sto) are pretty juicy. Although Fabregas (BLANK, WHM, avl) aren’t bad either after his blank this weekend. So would you make the trade? Or, with only 10 trades left, will it be more useful later down the line?
I’m not 100% sure yet, but I’ll likely make the move. I have made a lot of mistakes this year, but one thing I have been quite good at is admitting when I have and correcting them quickly – I’m hopeful this will turn out the same. Fabregas (usually) has a ceiling of 6 points and doesn’t often get hauls even when playing weaker opposition. Siggurdsson has form, fixtures, set pieces and is considerably kinder on the bank balance.
Next week blanks
Assuming Arsenal beat Hull in the FA cup, there will be 10 teams not playing next week. Over the last few weeks, I have only been drafting in players who have a guaranteed fixture. I’m hopeful this will pay off next week with those not paying attention only being able to field 6-7 players. So have you been carefully planning? How many players do you have next week?
Some big scores this week with Cian McKenna coming in top with 94. View the league here
