Sky sports fantasy football is back and with some major changes. You can view the new site via this link. This will be a short article to highlight the main changes for those that haven’t seen already.
UPDATE: Sky keep changing their mind on the rules, so most of the below is now obsolete.
New captaincy rules
This is the biggest change to the game. Sky have now implemented unlimited captaincy swaps. Personally, I’m not keen on this rule change, as I think it takes away some of the strategy side of the game, which I really enjoyed. Even so, having unlimited captaincy changes will still benefit those who follow the fixtures and plan well.
Changes to the bonus and point allocation
Various different point allocation and bonus point changes. Goalkeepers and scoring defenders seem to be buffed. See this link for more details.
There is a also a very useful article over on FFS on the new bonus thresholds, so I won’t go into detail here. Basically they have made it slightly harder to score points with passing and tackling but added bonus for shots on target (although again these seem difficult to earn).
Change in budget
We now have a budget of 100m (instead of 75m). That means prices have also changed with some defenders over 10m for example.
Smaller prizes for the league of leagues with just 1k awarded to the highest free and paid leagues (I’ll being setting these up soon). At first glance, I can’t find an overall cash league set up by Sky either, which is shame but I may have missed it or they might still introduce one.
Layout of the site
This is currently awful, clunky and buggy but apparently they are looking to change it.
I’m fairly busy at the moment but will try and get some posts out over the next month. Let me know what you think of the changes in the comments section.
