The solid start continues as my team tots up 90 points this week and moves into the top 2k. Ibra and Aguero captaincy again pays off – although a punt of Defoe failed to deliver.
Rank: 1686
38 transfers left
£1.0 in the bank
If anyone knows how to view the team by week let me know as I can’t figure it out – just another annoyance with the clunky new Sky website.
I’m pretty happy with my team at the moment as most of them are bringing home points or at least showing potential to do so. Although Defoe failed to deliver, he’ll keep his place at least until he plays Everton on the 12th September as my captain.
The Ditch List
The recently transfered in Noble is a slight concern as he’s failed to pick up anything apart from appearance points, while Pieters and Nsue have returned a paltry 1 point between them so far. I’m not overly concerned about Pieters – Stoke fixtures begin to improve soon and he’s been close to picking up bonus in the both games far. Nsue will also keep his place as he’s so cheap – as long as he can hold down a starting spot. I’m not sure of the best replacement for any of these three either, so I’ll re-assess after the international break.
The Watchlist
Davies (Hull) – I know its Hull but Davies looks a threat from set pieces and is likely to pick up a lot of MOTM awards when Hull don’t lose. At 6.5 he’s a decent option.
Henderson – Racking up the bonus points. A slight rotation risk but firmly on the watchlist
Gray – Came to life this weekend. Offers captaincy option later down the line. Unlikely to be able to fit into my team for a few weeks though.
Others – Pogba, Mahrez, Negredo, Hojbjerg, Sterling, Barkley
Captain strategy
It will be a toss up between Hazard and Ibra for Saturday with Aguero the obvious route on Sunday.
SFFF Leagues
Sean Tobin‘s “Detroit 442” takes the lead in the cash league with an incredible overall score of 199. Neil Fleeson‘s “Roumeli Rangers” moves up to second place with 189 – just ahead of last year’s overall winner Alan Wood whose on on 188. Neil Fleeson and Alan Wood also hold the top 2 places in the free league.

Good start Will, Still trying to figure out a Musa replacement. Gonna see if he does anything vs Swansea he probably won’t even start! Thinking Mane but their fixtures aren’t good, having said that Liverpool attack can explode against any team

Yeah, its probably worth holding him for Swansea match – even if he doesn’t start he could come on and do damage. You’ll have more info next week and then its the internationals – so I’d wait til after that personally

92 for me this week. Very happy with how everything is looking at the moment with all transfers intact. Slight concerns for me are Friend picking us an injury and Xhaka getting subbed off early whilst two passes away from bonus. Think I may just stick until after the break to get more information. Would love to get Williams in for Evertons good run soon.
Same captain dilemma as most. Would like to go Hazard but feel Ibra is the safer pick just on weight of ownership.

Zlat is definitely safer but hazard could easily out score him MOTM magnet too

My thoughts exactly.

Having the exact same dilemma Sam, I’ve Friend and Xhaka also and could easily make the trade to Simon Francis and Barkley which is very appealing to me.
However I’m unsure whether to just wait it out until the internationals too, not really sure how valuable the transfers are with it being my first year playing Sky!

Transfers are at a premium in sky and if you waste one it really can make you angry. I finished 52nd overall last year but only had 2 transfers to see out the last month or so which cost me a better overall rank.
I’m looking at Friend and Xhaka to Williams and Gueye or Redmond.

Great score again Sam and no transfers used – not many will be in your position! I have my eye on Williams as well, if Everton look like getting some clean sheets I might bring him in for Pieters soon

I’m in a similar position to Sam, my team as it stands:
Courtois
Baines Pieters Friend
Hazard Tadic Deulofeu Xhaka Redmond
Aguero Ibrahimovic
39 transfers remaining
The biggest concern is the injury to Friend. If we hear any more about the scan results that suggests he’ll be back after the international break I’ll likely stick with him. Otherwise Nsue and Evans seem the best candidates for a swap.
Deulofeu is next on the list with a couple of subpar performances, and now his minutes in question too. Barkley would be a good move here with him being the most nailed on midfielder in Everton’s lineup ahead of a fantastic run of fixtures. I have my eye on Mane too but he’s only just back in a team that looks to go up against Tottenham, Leicester and Chelsea in the next three.
Xhaka/Pieters are causing some concern as well, but I won’t be doing anything with them for the minute to avoid burning out too many transfers, especially before an international break.
Right now I’m thinking Deulofeu -> Barkley and Friend -> Nsue but seems such a shame to be make two sideways swaps at this stage. Anyone have any better suggestions?

I’ve just seen now that Everton have bought Gabbiadini (http://www.calciomercato.it/news/393781/calciomercato-napoli-esclusivo-gabbiadini-a-un-passo-dalleverton.html) who is usually deployed as a second striker. That would mean Barkley sitting deeper on the field. I guess that brings Gueye into contention as the best option in Everton’s midfield.

Good spot. It might take a while for him to settle in but could be a long term worry for Barkley owners – he already seemed to be sitting slightly deeper at the weekend

Sorry Justin. Was away the whole weekend. What did you end up going for?

Maybe in the long run if he adapts well, seen Italians struggle before in the PL

hows does Costa sound as a replacement Dan? away at Swansea screams points to me !!
However I don’t think Aguero will get a ban even tho I think he should..the FA will bottle it..

wow great start man fair play ! no don’t got a twitter Dan..so what are all you guys gona do with aguero now he is banned for two league games??

Stick! It will cost 2 important transfers for just 2 games – you’ll want him straight back in after his ban ends.

Yeah it seems a waste to get rid for 2 games, I’m sure many people will do it though.

Yeh its a tough one ..it just depends who you replace him with and how well he does over next 2 games..prob need to captain who you replace aguero with to make it worth it aswell.

you could get 4 games out of Lukaku to Aguero’s one at Swansea, and two of those are Monday or Friday games, so a good captaincy option. Aguero would come back in to your team for Spurs away. You will just need to hide behind a sofa when he plays at Swansea the week before. Looks a reasonable option…..

Think I’ll be going a slightly different route with Sanchez and then bringing Kun back in for Defoe… will be Investing in a big sofa for the swans match

Much prefer Sanchez to Lukaku. My dilemma is Ozil or Sterling

Would take Ozil over Sterling all day long..still not buying into sterling this season

yeh I will wait until I see Lukaku banging in a few goals before I get him in..its the classic Form vs Fixtures argument with him..Sanchez seems a much more safer pick..plus Sanchez is usually a very streaky player , gets his points in bunches..have a read of this very interesting article by Spreadsheet — http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2016/09/05/streaky-sanchez-and-consistent-ozil-investigated/

Nice article – cheers for sharing Cian.
Sanchez is top of my list at present. The problem is that he is a forward in Sky and a very expensive one at that. He also doesn’t offer a 4 for 1 with Aguero if you’re looking for a straight swap (not me). I’m strongly considering Payet instead and moving to 352 for the long term. It will also save me 1.4 million and Payet could be a great captain option in the coming weeks. Would much prefer if he was fully fit and firing like Sanchez though…
LikeLike
Yeh i agree you would ideally like Payet to be fully fit and firing before getting him but I do think he played some mins with France the other night. Another option might be to go with Antonio since now he should be playing as a winger after west ham signed Arbeloa..He would save you even more money ! but he does bring some risk as west ham do have a lot of wingers now..however I think i’m guna bring him in for tadic this week..

I could do with having a wildcard in sky…would love to ship out half my team !

I’m not sold on sterling either tbh but he’s a lot more budget friendly than ozil. But having looked at that spreadsheet basically pin pointing that ozil produced a lot more when Sanchez was absent so I don’t know about ozil now!
Same Cian, need the likes of redmond Townsend and Barkley to start producing! All in the firing line

My plan is Kun and Musa to Sanchez and cazorla. 2.5m ITB to upgrade Barkley and Townsend/Redmond to mane/Antonio/sterling
Get Kun back for the Swansea game unless Sanchez is on a hot streak.
Foster
Baines friend Dann
Hazard Townsend Redmond cazorla Barkley
Sanchez(C) Zlat

Your plan sounds great Dan..however I would probably keep Barkley (great fixtures) & Townsend ( Benteke Effect) for another few games to see how they fair..Redmond I would prob dump.
You could swap Zlat with Aguero for the Swansea game as Man Utd have difficult games coming up.But yeah your in a good position anyway
LikeLike
Cheers Cian, I’m most certainly holding on to Barkley for at least a couple of games but if he blanks another 2 it will be hard to resist Mane vs Hull!
Agree with Townsend they could turn it around with the new signings but got a worse feeling for Soton this year they may struggle so Redmond could be gone first.
Gonna be hard to get rid of Zlat with his high ownership and Sanchez is very streaky so I’ll have to see how they do over the next 2 weeks.
What’s your plan of action?
