Weekend Review

A very mediocre weekend for my team. Both captains failing to deliver, with Cabaye frustratingly having no involvement in Palace’s 5-1 victory over Newcastle and Kane picking up a yellow card in a 0-0 draw with Chelsea. De Bruyne, Lukaku and Vardy the only ones coming in with any significant points.

My Team

Butland
Dawson, Nyom, Van Dijk
Mahrez, Mane, Cabaye, De Bruyne
Lukaku, Kane (C), Vardy

Week points: 50
Total points: 867
Rank: 401
Transfers left: 23

Dodged bullets

A certain Sergio Aguero again went off injured. Although it doesn’t look serious, its always a risk to bring him in straight away, especially in the Sky as its potentially 2 transfers wasted. I was also hiding behind the couch in the Arsenal game because of the highly owned Alexis Sanchez, who I dropped a couple of weeks ago for Kane. Its never good to see a player go off injured, especially as he is one of my favourite players, but I was relieved he only got an assist.

Poll results

Over the weekend I ran a poll to see how many transfers you have left (see previous post). 45% of you have between 21-25 transfers left, which seems about right. If you have more that’s great. If you have less, you will have to be cautious in using your transfers over the coming months and avoid speculative punts.

Upcoming posts

Later today or possibly tomorrow, I will release a more in depth article on captaincy strategy over Christmas.

Great blog. It’s good to have somewhere that focuses solely on the Sky game.

I got 55 points this weekend but made some
bad transfer decisions. Took out Pantilimon and De Bruyne on Saturday for Gomes and Aguero. Then transferred Mane for Coutinho. The 20 or so points I would have got would really have helped me move up the leader board. I feel fairly confident the transfers I made are a good move in the long term though – especially if Silva’s return pushes De Bruyne to the wing.

I’m not a Sanchez owner but I’m actually a little disappointed about his injury! He hasn’t been great value for a while and I’m worried people will switch to Ozil, who has been proving to be a good differential for me!

Hi Tim, thanks for the comment! Those are unfortunate trades, but as you said, they look good for the long term. Ozil is someone Im looking to bring my self he is a great pick.

Look forward to seeing you about and hearing your how your team progresses!

I had the pleasure of watching not one but two captains trot off injured around the hour mark in Aguero and Sanchez this weekend!

The weekend’s fixtures had the potential to offer a decent points return but in the end failed to do so. It was disappointing for example with two Watford players in my defence to see them concede two to Villa and just when it seemed that Arsenal might bring some welcome relief at the end of the weekend Cech conceded, Sanchez went off injured and Ozil disappeared for the rest of the game.

That’s very unfortunate regarding captaincy. You just have to hope that things like that will even out over the season. Role on next week!

I scored 50 points this week with Hennessy, Cathcart, Soure, Nyom, Ayew and Kane contributing 6 between them!

Probably Aguero (if picked in the early game) for Sanchez then next on the hit-list could be Ayew: Deulofeu and Tadic are on my radar.
